i barred back in sept and failed...high HC readings...
i want to bar: as a "replacement" motor im still a little bit lost.
i wanna clear it up before i keep spending money on this swap and only to find out i need to find a USDM D series...

theres no deadline, but next time, its just gonna be a smog check, no more visual.well not as dreadful. im sure they'll still check everything but not as specific...

"UPDATE" i just got off the phone with Marvin from the usdm. He has nothing in his computer that states this new law. 1800-952-5210..."BUT" he gave me the number to the baring ref and thy say there is a new law. The way i see it is the refs dont want to pass the jdm motor because of the block numbers dont say what engine you have. 1800-622-7733..Now Marvin from the usdm office is the 1 that helps make the new laws dont know what the hell is going on so im going to be talking to some one that is going to look in to this. He said "BS ITS A SCAM IN MY BOOKS BECAUSE THE US MOTORS ARE MADE IN JAPAN SO THY ARE ALL THE SAME. US stamps the number on it after thy get it and puts there smog parts on it. Thats y the usdm motors r not as fast as the JDM. I will keep all of you up to date about talking to the STATE about this. Thy want me to start a petition about this. PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME AND PUT Y U THINK THERE WRONG.

NOT JDM MOTOR UNLESS IT IS A EQUIV TO THE ORIGINAL MOTOR.
I.E.
INTEGRA GSR WITH B18C1 CAN INSTALL A JDM B18C IN TO IT AS LONG AS IT HAS THE PROPER EMISSION EQUIPMENT.

Tickets are still being issued a majority of the time since most cops know that we further modify the motors after having them bar'd.
This sucks if its forever going to be in effect. Just another reason Im happy I purchased a ruckus to daily drive.

locate a 95 del sol b16a3 bottom end or a 99-01 b16a2 and you'll be just fine.
in fact you can locate a bare bottom b16a2/3 end and place all the b16a parts in inside

Umm, last time I checked, this was a government by the people, for the people. Laws exist because citizens write them and vote on them. Laws can be voted against, challenged in court, and even overturned.
The best way to overcome this is to start a petition with people's contact info and basically start a movement. Enough people get involved, start rattling cages, and yanking chains, somebody will listen.

One more thing, vega Rocks made a very good point. The only thing that would make a JDM motor a higher polluter is because the lack of emmissions equipment equipped to the motor and two other things: timing and compression ratio.

Just make sure you take the bottom end to CHP and make sure its not stolen or anything
well i do have a 94 b16a3 full block, i just dont know if its good or not...maybe ill do the bottom end swap..PITA but hell, if thats what it takes..
