D16a1. Worth anything???
I have a d16a1 engine laying around and I'm wondering if it is worth anything. From what I've read, it's not a popular swap engine because it requires mounts and does'nt bolt up to 89+ trannies... However, I'd like to know if any of the internals are useful for building up a good hybrid engine?
I'd like to part this engine out cheap, but I'm not sure if anyone would have a use for the parts. If you could point some of the desirable parts on this engine I'd glady pull em out and sell em cheap. This engine has to go bye-bye and I'd hate to scrap parts yall could use for a good build-up.
TIA for any info, Neil

Re: D16a1. Worth anything??? (Hybridize)
Take the A1 pistons, and repalce it in a D series engine to bump up the CR. I think the rods will fit with little or no modification. But i have done this before my h22 swap . 94' D16z6 - A1 pistons, shot peened z6 rods, y8 head & headgasket ,310cc injectors,Vafc . CR was around high 12:1. I never really got to test out the power, just once i have take it up to redline and then about 10 miles later spun a bearing then a few mile later trying to drive home , rod bolt loosen itself and Boom -lock motor. . Tell you what tho, that one time to redline the vtec scream like it never did and it pulled like bitch .
Reason for spun bearing, bitch at the part store gave me wrong size rod bearing which gave me no clearance <- my bad for not Plasti-guaging prior to install

Re: D16a1. Worth anything??? (Hybridize)
find a place that buys honda/acuras brokedown and fix them up to sell. There is a place here called Honda/Acura and they buy all the early 90's integras, accords, and civics; they then fix them all with used parts (parted out from many other cars they've bought/sold) and sell them for $2500 or so..running perfect.
They might be interested in buying your engine off you, it might only be a couple hundred bucks (if your engine runs great), but atleast it gets it out of your garge and money in your pocket
