Engine Rebuild for FI
i currently own a 5th gen prelude w/ 120k miles on the engine. i want to turbo this vechile, although people say my engine is too worn out. Well if i get the engine rebuilt including the tranny, will it be good enough to turbo? when i rebuild the engine, is it like the milage on the engine goes back to 0 miles? thanks
i always hear of people taking thier engines completely apart and putting it back together...its supposed to make the engine more reliable i guess? Am i missing something? Thanks
theres 2 ways of rebuilding. 1 is to completey refresh the engine with all new STOCK parts, like it was from the dealer. or You can use upgraded parts that will be stronger and hold up to the abuse you want to put it through.
A stock engine has its limits. but with a Built engine, it has more potential.

I think the concept here is that you don't just take it apart, say "Oooh, neat." and put it back together. You replace worn parts, and upgrade any that will need to be stronger for other upgrades you plan on doing.

If you are building it for boost then you will want to upgrade the bottom end. You will also want machining done to make sure you have a good solid block and head to start with. Then while at the machine shop you want to replace the pistons so that you cylinder to piston clearances are bang on. Then have the machinest balance the pistons and mark them to the cylinder they match. You can also get the machinest to balance the connecting rods, and the crank. Just a few ideas for you, there are alot more things you can do if you have the time and the money to get them done. It all depends on what you are looking for in the end.
