92-93 DX hatch, ls vtec, P30 ecu, throwing code 7? help with ecu codes please!
this is a friends car that i have been working on.... just replaced oil pump with a type r unit, and timing belt was switched from a PR4 LS belt to a P72 GSR belt.
when i first started working on the car, it idled at 1500, and ran smoothly. now it seems to run a little rough, the exhaust is shaking somewhat. idle is at about 700.
the P72 GSR belt is new, but it was longer than the old PR4...?? should all the 1.8 belts be the same length?
i have found a site on the web that says code 7 is "high spot, fast idle" and says to adjust the TPS. not quite sure if i understand "flat spots." thanks for any help.

Is flat spots also considered turbulance? Throttle sticking, carbon build up? Try cleaning i/m with carbon spray. Make sure TPS is tight. Reset ECU. Anymore noticeable symptoms?

I THINK that you shoult have kept the ls belt. You only use the vtec belt if you use a vtec water pump. Don't run the car any more untull you confirm this

dont see the difference in the water pumps, other than the ls pump used dowels to line it up to the block. the teeth on the timing belts are the same. the only thing i noticed was that the gsr timing belt was a bit longer, but the tensioner took care of that. once the car was running and the coolant was all bled, it still sounded a bit rough. almost like a mild pulsing. the check engine light did come back on, and in vtec it felt very weak considering it has jun3's.
