which timing belt for ls/vtec?
ok, i've been reading up on c-speedracing.com about their b20 and b18 vtec conversions. i read that when it comes down to the block, that if you are using a gsr/itr oil pump, to use a gsr/itr timing belt and the same for the water pump. my question is this, i was going to use a gsr oil pump and keep the ls water pump. which timing belt do i need?

The pump/belt combo only applies to the water pump. Use the corresponding belt and pump...... i.e. vtec water pump, GSR ITR belt, ls water pump, LS belt. In your case, it's the LS. Good luck.

ok, so since i have an ls water pump, and gsr oil pump, it's ok to use the ls timing belt i already bought, correct? damn, that article scared me. thought i was going to have to sell the damn belt for the right one.

Yes, you're good to go. I worked on a friends lsvtec this summer, he had the ls belt with GSR water pump, and it ran! It was so apparent when we looked at it all that it was the wrong belt. Good luck, You're project gets me all motivated to finish mine.
