Default y7/y8 timing issues

as stated i have a y7/y8 head and i can not get ignition right without cranking the dizzy all the way forward or backwards.

is the timing different with this combination?

i also have a skunk2 cam gear.

What does that have to do with what he posted?

Are you sure you set your motor to the proper position when you put on the timing belt?

cam gear is most likely the problem, see these aftermarket companies produce these products, and YES, they will work for multiple applications, but not 100% accurate.

i bet if you advance it 4° on the cam gear you can get the timing right.

i dont want to fing with the cam gear itself i have just been doing one tooth forward or back and it wont line up with out me pushing the dizzy all the way forward or back. i just hope im not messing something up even though ignition is lined up.
