Ok, Now I've worked out all the electrical problems got the computer and injectors working and ive noticed that i cant get the y8 head in time its 1 tooth off always... I used the y8 belt with the a6 block.

I have a d16y8 head, d16a6 block and d16y8 timing belt.

I've noticed that the timinmg marks are 2 arrows that are not exactly str8 across..

Anyone done this swap that can lent some advice? Other than buying an adjustable cam gear.

You might need an adjustable cam gear. Look that up and see what you can find.

with a z6 head the cam will be 1/2 a tooth off so you need an adjustable cam gear. does it sound like its firing up? check your firing order.

the car runs.. poorly. the firing order is correct. it just seems that the timing is off. in all the posts I've seen about the swap there isnt a mention of an adjustable cam gear so thats why i was wondering. It looks like the y8 timing mark is slighty skewed.. not str8 across so i was wondering if moving it back a tooth would help...

on a note, i did retard the timing.. one tooth.. clockwise..

And it runs. well enough. not to bad. but i can tell not in time. and i cant adjust the distro to muc to compensate. looks like its time for that aem cam gear.

Yeah, no one really ever mentions it but you'll need an adjustable cam gear. I have Z6 head on A6 block and it was off about 2 degrees, or 1/2 tooth, with the stock gear. However it ran fine without the adjustable cam gear. A couple degrees shouldn't make a huge difference.
