I have a 94 Civic DX with a B16 drop. A while back ago, I swapped my front and rear brakes to a 1995 Integra GSR. After I threw on the gsr suspension, I got 3 alignments. But, my car has never steered straight since the swap and the steering wheel feels like I got a lot of extra play in it. Could it be that I need new axles? Thanks for your help, in advance...

axles do not effect steering. well, in severe cases yes they may (i had my car tear the steering wheel out of my hands at 80mph on the highway due to a faulty cv), but sounds like what you are referring to is just slop in the steering rack. is the play off center? as in if you have the steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position, are you able to move it to 1 and 11 o'clock while driving and the car still goes straight?
if so, this can be adjusted out, to a point. there is a very large locknut and adjuster bolt on the rack that you can use to adjust the pinion gear on the rack to reduce the play. careful though, if you go too tight, you will shorten the life of the rack tremendously. you will need either a custom fabbed tool for the locknut, or the oem honda one. i was able to do it with a pipewrench, but i was doing steering rack bushings at the time, so i had the rack disconnected from the boddy of the car and i was able to move it around to make clearance. good luck.

I thought that it might possibly be the steering rack. A shop rebuilt my rack and put it back on..but maybe they didnt adjust it...Can you tell me in exact detail how to adjust this by leaving the rack on the car? Thanks
