Default steering column

ok....my jeep has a major steering column problem. im in my car cleaning it (car is off, not moving) and i was messing the the steering wheel and it moves...alot. I put it in a different position (adj. wheel) and it still moves...its bad enuf that when i drive it its kinda scary cuz its so shaky (not my alighnment) im thinking its something that is loose and just needs to be adjeusted but im not sure...if u can help thank you Cliff

Start by taking off whatever covers you can so you can see the shaft that spins with the steering wheel. Then (with car turned off) rock the wheel back & forth while you look for where the loose joint is.

I don't know Jeeps, but (I think) ALL steering columns have U-joints in them. They get loose. You gotta find out whether you can buy just the U-joints or maybe the whole intermediate shaft or whatever...

u could check whgere the steering column meets the steering rack and see if thats loose
