valve adjustment needed?
I finished swapping over the parts onto my new motor and am ready to throw it back in the car tonight. I had the head off, so when I put it back on I set the crankshaft to TDC and the head to TDC before putting on the timing belt.
Everything seems to be aligned for the most part but my friend said I still need to adjust the valves. Is this true? Say I were to start the motor tonite (I cant drive the car due to a suspension problem I still need to resolve) so that I can make sure we got everything connected right and troubleshoot any problems, would I need to worry about any valves hitting?
It seems to me that if the crank is at tdc and the camshaft is at tdc, then there wouldnt be any problems with valve slap and what not, but I wanna make sure.
Thanks for the help.

Hold up, let me find the link.
*edit- here is my reply to another valve adjustment thread, with a link:

I didnt read all the way thought that thread, but a few tips:
-Make sure your engine is cold
-The way they tell you to adjust valves in that article is: turn #1cly to tdc, adjust valves. Turn #3 cyl tdc, adjust valves. Turn #4 cyl to tdc, adjust valves. Turn #2 cyl to tdc adjust vaves.
But there is an easier way!
Turn #1 cyl to TDC. You can adjust all the valves on cyl #1. You can also adjust the intake valves on #2 and the exhaust valves on #3.
Now turn the crank 360 degrees and put #4 cyl at TDC. You can adjust all the valves on #4. You can also adjust the intake valves on #3 and the exhaust valves on #2.
Then your done.

Also, if you're standing in front of the car, looking down at the motor. The cylinder numbers are from left to right: 4 3 2 1</TD></TR></TABLE>

Re: (suprmods)
ok if you just got done doing a motor swap and installing your timing belt and everything. a valve adjustment should be the easiest thing for you to do. all you need is a 10mm socket and rachet, a flat head screw driver, and some feeler guages.
