UK/EDM EG4 with a B16A engine -- High Fuel Usage
I have a UK/EDM EG4 with a B16A engine running the SIR loom also, it seems to being using a lot of fuel. Currently i'm only getting 130miles per tank, the only thing that's not connected is the carbon canister and i have read lots of arguments saying it will/it wont affect fuel economy. I don't have any CEL codes and most of the parts are new. Struggling to figure out what it would be apart from maybe the o2 sensor, which im going to check later.

Is the engine difficult to restart after the engine is warmed up?
Could be a bad engine coolant temp sensor. The ECU thinks the engine is always cold and will dump too much fuel regardless of engine temp.

Have you done a tune up? Have you looked into your o2 sensor? Have you done anything other than just ask for recommendations? Have you tried resetting the ecu and relearn idle?

Re: High Fuel Usage
Does CEL work?
What ECU? Stock?
Ignition timing set correctly?
Fuel pressure measured and FPR tested?
Stuck open fuel injector?
Exhaust leak?
Tail pipe emissions measured?

Thanks for all the replied guys.
• IAT sensor not checked (is that a simple resistance test)
• New plugs, two sets of leads OEM and Magnecor, fuel filter, cap, rotor and oil and filter (coil hasn't been changed)
• Only one O2 sensor by the collector, wiring looks ok no leaks, need to test resistance (JDM 98 Spec ITR Manifold)
• CEL works, stock P30 JDM ecu, ignition timing is set correctly
• Going to change the FPR as the vacuum pipe keeps sliding down the FPR so could be the culprit
• Not sure on injectors and no exhaust leaks no emissions test done the car has no CAT.

Please give details.
Why not replace vacuum hose and then measure fuel pressure and test FPR?
Remove fuel rail with injectors and check whether any injector sprays fuel with key in ON(II).

Re: UK/EDM EG4 with a B16A engine -- High Fuel Usage
The timing was set by jumping the service connector, then hooking the strobe light to plug lead one and pointing it at the crank pulley. Then the dizzy was adjusted so the middle of the three timing marks lined up with the mark on the timing cover.
I can replace the vacuum hose and test the fuel pressure, do i need a special gauge or can i use something like a compression tester? Do you know the fitment the gauge needs to fit onto the filter?
I can test the injectors as well to be sure its not those.
