Default swaping a b series motor into my 99 civic ex * need distributor wiring help*

i have a 99 ex d16y8 sohc vtec, and im trying to swap in my b16a4 sir motor,

i've heard from people that my stock wiring harness will plug right up but, i was looking over and relized my d16y8 distributor plug is different than b- series... how will that work, do i need to cut and splice?

i know the easiest was is to run a SI wiring harness but no 1 is selling it cheap...

if you know, can you please help.. thanks

Im assuming that the b you have is obd2 so the plugs should be the same unless you have an obd1 motor then they will be different.

ok,
Here is your plug on your sohc dizzy

and here is the one on the b16 dizzy

Correct?
You are going to have to cut and splice your sohc plug onto the b16 dizzy if you want to use your harness... The problem is that your harness plug has 8 pins. The b16 plug has 9. The extra plug is for the tach output (rpm). The rest of the wires should match up. Your obd2b single cam gets it tach signal from the crankshaft position sensor and the b16 gets the signal from the distributor. The only way i can think of this working is that if you cut and splice like i said and hardwire the rpm signal from the distributor to the rpm signal wire on your crank position sensor. ( not sure if it will work tho)

good luck.

ok again. After doing some more research it depends on what ecu you will be using. If you use a p2t, 99-00 civic si ecu you will not need to wire the tach signal. BUT if you want to run a obd 1 ecu, say with a conversion harness, you can run the tach signal wire to the blue wire next too the drivers side shock tower, its by its self you cant miss it.
search!!! there is good info on this site.
