LS VTEC - Have concerns with tapped and plugged oil hole (pics)
I'm currently in the process of putting together my first build, Mainly a ls vtec.
Now I took my gsr to get new springs and retainers put in and also had the guy in the machine shop tap the oil hole and install the 1/8 plug I provided and also resurfaced it afterwards.
My main concern is that he didn't install the plug all the way in and resurfaced it so i cant remove it normally with a Allen key. You guys think i should try to remove it, and if possible how? or just leave it the way it is. take a look at the picture below.

i know it sucks to be in situations that shops put you in. most people here are probably gonna tell you take it back to the shop and have the guy re-install it properly
or get a dremel and a small(coin size) cutting wheel and grind a slit in it for a big flathead to take out

I want to take it back to the shop but problem is the guy was a hassle to deal with and he never answers his phone and the shop is kinda far from where i live. what if i did the easy out method of drilling the hole and using the tool to remove the aluminum bolt or is that only for steel bolts? or maybe just take it to a different machine shop in my area?

if its an aluminum plug, cutting and drilling will be easy on it, but how your gonna cut or drill is important
i'd still recommend cutting a slit to unscrew it out with a big flathead
any drilling holes will leave alot of metal shavings and without compressed air, will be hard to get out of a head

Yeah I will try that method first and see if it works, just a little scared of cutting on the heads surface don't want to mess it up.

Re: LS VTEC - Have concerns with tapped and plugged oil hole (pics)
Got the dam thing out with a tool a bolt extractor and it worked first i used a left hand drill bit and then used the appropriate size extractor and it came out.
As you can see in the picture I am glad i took it out because I'm sure this plug would have caused a leak because it was not fully in the hole nor did it have any kind of thread sealer. I Cleaned all the shavings with a Q-tip just dabbed a little grease on it for the shavings to stick. Now I just gotta stop by grainger and pick up another fitting made of brass and slap some permatex ultra grey rtv on it, and call it a day.
