ls/vtec....why plug oil passage?
I'm preppeing the b16 head I have, and was following these directions
http://www.racingknowledge.org...D=245
and I want to know why its necessary to plug the "oil passage"....I've tapped the hole but am having trouble getting the plug to fit, and I'm abou to take it to a machine shop to have it milled flat, but it doesn't look like the passage really goes anywhere....does it really have to be plugged?

You should plug it because there is nothing on the block to carry the oil down. Also, the ls headgasket isn't setup for that paticular oil galley.
You need to use a straight flute tap or it won't thread down far enough. Also the set screw you use to plug it should be very small. I think mine was 3mm long.

if i am not mistaking isn't that hole the oil feed for the regular vtec engines? since the ls isn't vtec the yuo cap the head then yuo run the external oil feed line.
