JRSC vs Greddy turbo
I'm considering either buying a JRSC or a Greddy turbo for my EX and I would like some opinions from you all.
I'm wary of turbo because of the high temps and other problems I've read about, especially on this board, like seals going and the like. But, I like the cost of turbo and the power.
As for the JRSC, I dislike the price and the limit you hit with power gains, but I do like the realtive safety of it and the low end torque. I did read posts about high temps on even the stock pulleys, any truth in that?
Basically I'm looking for easy install, easy maintainence, good power and response while being safe. Any and all advice/thoughts are appreciated.

Re: JRSC vs Greddy turbo (VTEC CX)
Greddy turbo I had it on my old 94 Civic when it first came out, no intercooler, .04bar, 161whp, and ran 13.78 with a 1.8 60ft. It ran problem free for over 2 years until the person I sold it to wrecked it.

Thanks all. But have any of you running the Greddy run into overheating problems? Thats what I'm most concerned about since I've read sooo many posts and articles about that kind of problem.

I think it depends on what you want. If you are building a 100% daily driver, i think the JRSC is better. You get boost down low where you need it, its simple, etc etc. If you are going for pure tunable power above 3500rpm (or wherever the greddy turbo start making power), then go with the turbo kit. Just my $.02

Hmm, it appears that the JRSC might be a waste of time.
How reliable is the greddy setup, provided I keep the stock boost level? This is my only source of transportation and it has to last me at least a few more years, I'm concerned the turbo will just cook the engine.

The turbo set-up should be really reliable provided you take care of your car and properly installed it. I actually think the Greddy turbo is more reliable then JRSC. The reason you hear so many negatives about turbo is because of the people who get careless with what their car can handle and try boosting 15psi on a stock block with no provisions for additional fuel. The JRSC doesn't allow that. I've had my kit on my D16Y8 for about a year at 7psi intercooled and have been very pleased with it.

If your motor is in good condition and tuned properly then there shouldn't be any problems wtih overheating or whatever. Just dont run like 20 lbs on stock internals. If you are using stock internals then I wouldn't go above 8 lbs. Of course there will be problems on the way, but that's what fixing cars is about.

JRSC is also street legal...my old hatch had a sohc vtec, a JRSC, DC headers, intake, wires, and a Fireball exhaust, and I passed smog no problem..

I think the IC might be legal but the BOV isn't.. call up greddy and ask, I've heard people say different things regarding the legality of addons to the greddy kit. I'm goin greddy and adding all the goodies - screw emissions It's not that big of a deal in washington
