Default Value Adjustment

I am reading my helm's and don't quite understand about how to do the valve adjustment

When we do an valve adjustment, do we want to make the valves so tha it has more clearance with the rocker arms?
that means compress the valves more??

please, i know i am confused, help me out !

Tighter clearance:
Valves open more
Adds strain and motor doesnt rev as easily
Looser clearance:
Valves dont open as much
Motor revs easier/faster

I am still trying to find out what I should do for turbo. I just adjusted mine last week and adjusted to tighter tollerance for the sake of the valves opening more.
I have yet to try anything else.

I kinda had to do it because I just replaced the valve seals ---what a bitch of a job BTW. I have done it a couple times during my N/A days and I couldnt really tell a difference besides the valvetrain being quieter.
I think this isnt really too much of a performance factor. Its so slight its unreal. Just makesure that you set them within factory specs.
