Impossible crank pulley bolt?
I am in the process of replacing the rings and bearings in my d16y7 dd, I've taken many Honda crank pulley bolts off before, but this one is being impossible, I hit it with my IR air impact, a new 650ft/lb air impact I bought today just for this, and two grown adults with pipes and breaker bars. This just refuses to come off, please help!

3/4 inch air gun. i bought one just to get some crank pulley bolts off a few years ago. other than that...with your impact gun, make sure compressor air pressure is all the way up and try hitting the bolt clockwise and counter-clockwise a few times. i would only do it for maybe 15-20 seconds at a time or the bolt will get hot and your air compressor will probably be ready for a recharge anyways. if that doesn't work i don't know what to tell you lol. they are a pain sometimes.

spray some pb blaster and let it soak overnite then use your gun. or a pry bar at the flywheel and breaker bar at the pulley bolt. its always a bitch to take it out! FML too

no no if that IR gun isnt breaking it loose either a stronger gun and higher pressure might work... i have an IR with almost 900 ftlbs break away torque at 120 psi and ive had trouble taking a few off, but they come off with patience and know how.

If the above does not work...well I hate to admit it but I had to put heat on mine...I bought the tool from napa to hold it in place and everything did not work...borrowed a 3/4 drive and I have an ir nada...put a lil heat on it for just a lil bit make sure your pressure is maxed and as stated before hit it for 15-20 seconds....you may also want to try the back and forth technique...i e switch the reverse/forward button in quick pushes...my 2 cents...good luck...took me like a week of trying on my b16 I got from jhot imports...true p.i.t.a. for those that don't agree I concur I only did as a last resort but the motor is boosted and still running on stock internals....

Re: impossible crank pulley bolt?
do the back and forth thing with a very powerful air gun like turbo civic and i said. if that doesn't work use heat, but not for more than 15-20 at a time with a torch. if the bolt is glowing it's way too hot. you want it just starting to get orange. do not hold the torch in the same spot for more than a second, move it around and heat evenly. replace the crank seal/oil pump seal if you use heat to get it off or it will most likely leak.
i think my ir 3/4 gun is rated for 1200 ft-lbs. it's the most powerful one you can get, i know that, just a few years old. bought it just for crank pulley bolts lol
