Default crankshaft pulley

Is the bolt that holds the crankshaft pulley onto the crank a normal bolt, in that it tightens clockwise and loosens counterclockwise? I am having a difficult time getting it off and someone suggested that it might be a counterclockwise bolt. Anyone know for sure?
