i recently swaped an jdm d15b vtec and notice a bit of difference then my old d15b7 but i felt it was lacking in acceleration and in hills the car was stugling i knew something was not right and was not running like it should. so i checked my catalytic converters and i was completly shocked it was completly clogged i replace it with a magnaflow direct bolt on and oh boy it felt like a new car. a lot more acceleration no more struggling in hills. so all of you who have those symptons you might want to check that bastard it probably need to be replaced.

Re: (ekcivic9)
true. back about a year ago i had my cat in, and raced a buddies 94 Civic coupe dx, i won but barely, maybe half a car. I took my cat out just because i had a test pipe sitting there. WOW what a change. I raced my buddy again the next week and I smoked him by like 5 or 6 cars. I wasnt even close.

only reason I ran the stock cat in the first place was i was in a rush to finish the swap and I didnt have time to get an o2 sensor bunged in so my only other option other then no o2 was to run the stock cat. It was ok for a little while but after about a yr i noticed the motor was lacking.

Re: (Squallie)
Would a bad resonator cause this issue too?
Check out all the threads I've made over the years concerning this similar issue:

The never ending story. I still have the problem. Gutted the cat won't help...getting a high flow cat soon. I believe it's my stupid resonator on my exhaust piping.

by how much exhaust is escaping the tailpipe i suppose...it can get real sophisticated too.. theres tools that measure exhaust back pressure.... i remember one time i thought my hesitation was caused by a clogged cat.. it turned out to be hollow tho.. it ended up being a weak coil..

Take off the cat, look through it. If you cant see the other side its clogged.

my cat had about 175 000 miles. i bought the cat for 140 $CAD so it should not be more then 100$US you can buy it at any auto parts store or online http://www.magnaflow.com/03buyonline.asp
to see if your cat is clogged you have to check it from the entry that goes to the downpipe cause it there it get clogged.
handa it could be your resonator try to remove it. i would sugest you this remove all you exhaust system to the downpipe and drive it that will tell you if it your exhaust system. if it not might be a sensor.
