Default my throttle response is getting worse!!

my car throttle response is getting worse. last week the car respond to my pedal quicker than it did today. here's how the car reacts: on neutral, i simply push on the pedal all they way (like a tap) and let go immediately...it would take half a second until it starts to rev up. i have a stock b16 on my 4dr.

my question is, what are the symptoms of bad throttle response?

yup, do that and check your TPS voltage readings with a multi meter and see if it's "lazy". Have a look at your plugs too and make sure they look ok as well.

well punching the gas and letting go would show hesitation. just difference in atmospheric pressure would cause that. it is normal wear on vehicle. the older they get the worse they get until when you punch the gas and it sputters and lets out a bang and stalls. having to push the gas pedal down further to reach the same rpm would be a streched throttle cable.

how could the tps be reading lazy? how can you calibrate it?

OMG throttle reponse is KAPUT like the MIR space station

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It could be any single or all things related to the engine. The plugs might be getting old, oil full of ****, air filter could be dirty, water temp, cat any sensor, temperature changes the water pump may be going out or any of the bearings. Your ricey exhaust may be blocked with rust or perhaps a banana

GOD MAY JUST NOT LIKE YOU

if you do a oil change/tuneup and things don't improve you should just sell your car and get the biggest sport bike your pansy stance can wrap your legs around.

better yet take the bus

If the TPS is going bad it can read lazy. You calibrate them using a volt meter. If it's going bad you replace it with a new one.

have you checked your air filter and fluids? it sounds like you have a large difference, but who knows, if its really bad, the air filter can make it respond quite slow.

to check your tps with a voltmeter you need one thta is auto ranging. set it to volts dc, find ground wire and refernce wire. while you have the wires probed, slowly open your throttle by hand and see if you notice a sudden decrease or increase in response. min voltage should be above .75 to a max of 4.8 to 4.9 volts. if you have acsess to a scope it would work better. a lab scope shows an actual graph on where the bad spot on the sensor is. with a multimeter you have to pay close attention. oh and one more thing. get wig pins to probe your wiring. they can sneak in to the back of the connector without damaging wires. you can get them at wal-mart in the sewing section.

min. of .75V?? honda says set it at around .5V and the few stock throttle bodies with TPS sensors that havent been touched have been set at .44V with a WOT of 4.6
