help with EGSI B18C1 swap
Hey guys I need help
I have a eg94 si and Im trying to swap a 97 GSR enigne I have a couple of questions
and I need your opinion's
If I decide to go with OBD2a ecu, what will I have to add from the shock tower to the ecu and doe's anybody have the pin out's location on the shock tower or will it have to be directly to the sensor's, because Ive been doing the research and I have not seen them yet. I know it is the knock sensor and IAB but I think I am missing something else
If I decide to go with a chipped P28 what cipped will this be. I have also been told that I won't have to wire anything else it wil be just a PNP is this true. I also been told that this is not recomended for a daily driver car because If the knock sensor detonates it will retard my engine. Is this true I thought tha chipping the ecu will eliminate the knock and IAB and Cranck
Please help or give me advise I don't want to over pay

Re: help with EGSI B18C1 swap
Dont run an obd2 ecu. 1 u will need a conversion harness. 2. its much easier to run a chipped p28. if you have an aftermarket intake manifold that doesnt have the IAB's in it then you dont have to worry about wiring them. p28 doesnt read knock sensor regardless whether its stock or chipped. If you get a good chipped p28 and you have a good manifold, you should be all plug and play if its really an si which means its wired for vtec. good luck

Here are the pinout's with pictures.

You have an Si, so that's easy. A chipped ECU can take care of knock, IAB's, and Emission Purge Valve. It also depends on the program used to tune the ECU (i.e. Neptune, Ectune). Whoever you buy from, find out for sure what they can eliminate. Some software can eliminate more than others.
If you run a chipped P28, you don't need a ECU harness. Your chassis ECU harness will plug right into a P28. As far as the shock tower goes, it depends what engine harness you use.
If the engine is a USDM, then use the GSR engine harness, it will plug right into the shock tower plug.

Re: help with EGSI B18C1 swap
Thanks for the help But I jus want to get something straigt.
If I decide to go chipped P28 I won't have to wire anything else right no IAB,Knock sensor,EVAP and 02 sensor right. Since I am going to be all stock meaning Stock GSR,Stock GSR wire harness,Stock GSR manifold their is no adding wire from shock tower to ECU

The only thing you would have to wire is Knock and Secondary butterflies, if applicable. Since your are using a chipped ECU, both of these can be eliminated by the tuner in the ECU. Meaning, the ECU wouldn't throw a CEL without them and you wouldn't need to wire them. It depends on what software they are using, and what you want to remove. The oxygen sensor is only for CX models.
Potentially, you could plug it in without wiring anything.
