Del Sol body rigidity
Is it just me or do the del Sols have the absolute worst chasis ever! Dont get me wrong I love my car but on a harsh road and hard corners you can feel the body twist or shake ever so slightly. I believe its from the targa roof not being supported by anything but itself. By that I mean that when the roof is in place it creates sort of a brace between the A and C pillars, but its just not tight enough to stop the twisting. What I propose to do is place two bars parallel to each other bolted to the A and C pillars essentially creating a "T-top." I feel this is more than possible seeing that the roof is still removable and doesnt obstruct the driving position, but the frame wont rely on the top being in place for body rigidity What do you guys think? I've never seen it done before, but if it works I'll post a How To Clinic for all you EG2 owners

no offense, but wh would you do that? Just get a civic if you want a roof. Targa is fun and cool, welded bars would not look cool.

Okay I'll go out and buy one right now, thats practical. . It will simply have two bars about 6inches apart in the interior bolted to the A and C pillars. Why would they look funny, you'd barely see them

I think he means a full roll cage, not just a roll bar. I seen a sweet Cusco bolt-in cage in the classifieds not too long ago. They had pics of it in a sol, looked really nice.

yeah, full roll cage def. It'll have the bars going across the top just under the targa, and you would have to climb over it to get in the car. Pain in the butt for a daily driver, but it looks so good rolling down the street.
