I'm running 10w-30 in my civic but I'm not sure that it's the right grade. No problems so far though.

I have always run 10w30 in my d16y8 and never had any problems. I ran 20w50 for a while once during the hot summer months when I was putting hard miles on it and I hated that oil. Live and Learn I guess.

5w30 is recommended by honda. 10w30 is fine but they say if the car has a hard time turning over when cold step down to the thinner 5 weight. once the motor warms up its the same viscosity anyways

^^yep.^^ Although 5w30 is recommended, 10w30 is fine to run. I wouldn't run it personally, especially in the winter, but that's just me.

5w30 is right.
I was running 10w30 on my old d16z6 before I blew it out.

Went to the Honda Dealership a few weeks ago (with my newer d16z6) for a tune-up.. They used 5w30 and highly recommended it for future reference.

5w30. op lives in LA so 10w30 isn't a big difference since it's never that cold here.

5/30 is the recommended grade however if you're vehice has heavy wear and you are noticing some some oil burnoff it may be advised to try a 10/30 but to be honest these cars are not all that fussy compared to some others hope this helped
