Default what oil to use???

rebuilding my d16y8 and was wondering if i should start out with regular engine oil and then switch to synthetic? also should i run 10w30 thats what i always ran in my escort b4 buying this car. anyone that has some aftermarket internals in a y8 please post what u got and how much. thanks

run non synthetic oil first for the break in, and after that you can run the synthetic if you like

I would use 5W-30 instead of 10W-30 oil though for your engine. But I agree with PrettyLude, use conventional then synthetic after break-in.
