Default d16y8 manifold swap

As opposed as I am to doing anything bolt on related to a d-series, it's hard to pass this up. A guy near me is selling a bare d16y8 intake manifold from an automatic ex for $20.

Now, I know I can reuse my fuel rail, and will need to reuse my injectors to keep my fuel mixture.

My concern is what else I need for the swap. I'm not sure but I think I'll need a d16y8 throttle cable/bracket and I know I'll need some coolant lines.

Anything I'm forgetting? I should be able to reuse my y7 intake manifold gasket and throttle-body.

Thanks!!!

you will need the y8 throttle body because of the way the throttle cable opens the TB. you will also need the y8 iacv and you will need to do a 3 wire to 2 wire conversion for the iacv. Look on this site it tells you how to do a whole mini me swap but ittle tell you how you need to do the wire conversion...

its the 16th and 17th picture i believe...

I was under the impression I could use the y7 throttle-body as it has the IACV built in. I just have to plug the empty y8 IACV holes.

yahh you could plug the iacv holes in the back of the IM. but the throttle body will still not open because the y7 TB is on top of the IM and the y8 is on the side. with the throttle cable hooked up when the gas is depressed the TB will open the opposite way causing it to not open at all.

the automatic Y8 manifold won't have holes for the IACV, the automatics used a 3 wire IACV as well

Gotcha. The question now is whether or not I can use my y7 throttle body and throttle cable.

you can use the y7 tb but you have to swap the rotor from the y8 tb since it opens the oppistie way as the y7. as for the throttle cable it is said that you get better throttle responce with the y8 cable but you can use the y7 cable

it's much less work that way. i reused my Y7 TB since the Y8 manifold and TB i bought were from a manual. i swapped the rotor over and kept the Y7 cable, just had to make a bracket to keep the slack from getting pinched when the hood closes. everything works great 3 years later, with one exception... i should have adjusted the throttle rotor bump stop. the throttle sticks at ambient temp . no big deal though.

Alright. So I should get a hold of a y8 automatic tb and cable to make it easy. I'll keep an eye out and try to grab that cheap bare auto manifold that's here locally.
