For on thing im missing my throttle body and was wondering if i can use a b16 obd2 one on the d16? besides the v-tech wiring what other wires do we need to wire? Thank for any help....

I did a swap kinda similar to this a few months ago...

There are going to be a few minor snags you'll run into--I lucked out on the IACV since I was doing from a d16y8 auto to a d16y7 longblock, keeping the y8 IM.

Read this thread, PM me if u have more questions.

None of it should be anything you can't handle. Make sure you have the correct ECU and fuel injectors for the y8.

with a mini-me, would it be pointless to keep your old TB/IM? I am using and intake manifold from a D15B7 on a D16Y7.. If I change the head/ecu.. no good on keeping the old stuff?

lol threadjacker... why would you have to get rid of the tb and im? they are interchangeable.

because the map sensor is mounted differently from he y7 to the y8.

I might have it backwards, but y7's have the map on the TB and y8's on the firewall.

nope only 88-91 civics and 92 Egs had the map on the firewall

as for the op get a 96-98 Ex engine harness and ecu and it is ALL plug and play

lol my ideas from his post, isnt a mini me a vtec head swap? also sounded like he already has the b7 intake mani on a y7 in which case he should already have fixed the sensor issues... that is unless he just worded it goofy and i cant comprehend him.

Dont forget that the IAC in the y7 is the 3 wire, whereas th Y8's is the standard 2 wire. 2 different modes of operation, so it would be best to swap a wiring harness from a y8 as well, its not a whole lot different from the y7, cept for the fact that its wired for the 2-wire IACV, and the VTEC solonoid.
Would save you allot of time by swapping a y8 harness as well, granted you can find one for a cheap price.
If not, you will have to convert the IACV plug yourself, as well as wire up VTEC yourself.

^^ that's right, i knew it was something. It's the wiring that was different.

The 96-97 d16y8 w/ AutoTrans is a 3-wire unlike its brethren. Don't ask me why...

This saved me some hassle when my old y8 broke a rod. I put in a cheap y7 longblock with a y7 A/T ECU. Since I re-used the y8 manifold and its IAC, no wiring was needed, which is always nice.

from https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1863277
"the Y8 engine use a 2-wire IACV whereas your Y7 engine uses a 3-wire IAC. The Y7 ecu looks for a 3-wire IACV. So if you try using your DX ecu on a Y8 engine, you're going to get a check engine light for the IACV because the Y8 doesnt use a 3-wire IACV. BTW, the IACV on a Y7 engine is integrated on the throttlebody; the Y8 IACV is seperate and located on the backside of the intake manifold. Altho, an AUTO Y8 intake manifold uses a 3-wire IACV!"
