crank but wont start
ight.. saturday i installed my skunk2 short shifter then road to the store and filled up on gas, came home n sat night i got bored and painted my hood, when i woke up sunday it was sprinkling so i went out and put a sheet over my motor. sunday me and my gf went to get pizza and when we got home i tried starting my car, all it did was crank and there was no spark, so i called the mechanic i work with and he said to get a new distributor so today i bought a new distributor and i still have no spark. i dont know what else to do and i dont know how to check CEL. the car is a 95 civic coupe dx. someone please help me!

If your CEL is on, check it. You can learn how to check with a simple search, its in the archives. Check all ignition related fuses also and do visual inspection of the ignition system. If your sure there is no spark you just have to trace back to the problem from the spark plug wires.

Enhance your calm, John Spartan...
Have you pulled the plugs out and made sure that the spark is getting to the cylinders? Is the distributor installed correctly?
only 3 things needed to start- air, fuel, spark. Air usually isn't a problem. Check for spark by pulling out a plug wire, sticking in a screwdriver, and setting it on the fender. Then crank the car and see if it sparks. You can actually listen for your fuel pump priming when you put the key in the car.
Start there and let us know.

Sorry about the earlier post, idk why I missed that you had no spark.
Have you checked all the grounds and connections yet? That's about the best I can come up with now, I'm at work and away from my civic service manual.

yes, positive i did it correctly, is there even a wrong way you can install a distributor? besides mixing up the plug wires, and new spark plugs wouldnt help if i dont have spark coming from the distributor
