Help: Not gettin any spark.
Alright, well my buddy has a 93 EJ1, stock motor, and I was following him to his house with it today, and it starting to bog down and died. I tried to restart it and all it did was crank over, I let it sit for a few and tried again, same result.
I had one of my buddies get some parts to switch out that we knew worked, we changed out the ecu, changed the dizzy, wires, cap and rotor, and still have no spark. Just wondering if anyone could shine any kind of light on this, we are pretty stumped with it.
Thanks.

Well if you aren't getting a spark and you swapped the Distributor, and it still doesn't work there must be a problem before the Distributor. Check Fuses and double check that the Dist is not providing a spark. Check connections to Dist. Other than that good luck.

Re: Help: Not gettin any spark. (saywhat)
Well, we checked ALL the fuses, and when we were changing out the coilpack my buddy left the keys on, I don't know why but he did lol, and well we got a spark off the 2 wires from it, so the coilpack is getting power.
I guess tomorrow we are gonna check the wires to the dizzy for continuity and see what we get with that....
Any other ideas?

Stumped, I guess make sure everything on the distributor is getting power to the wires.

Check your timing.
I pulled out a gas station and didn't make it 30 feet before the car shut off. Wouldn't push start or anything.
I come to find out the hoses for the washer fluid got caught in my timing belt and threw my timing off.
Good luck

how did you check for spark? Because if your getting power at the coil, the only other places for it to travel is through the button, cap, wires, then plugs.

We pulled off a plug wire and grabbed and extra spark plug and held the end of it to the dizzy to check for spark. And thats exactly what were were thinking, theres only so many places for it to go after the coilpack, but we switched the cap and wires and tried a different plug.

the ignition control module was to blame when I lost spark.. although i have seen no spark caused by a faulty ecu ground. check the ground, its on the thermostat housing, although if that ground is bad you wouldnt be getting any fuel also
Good luck

I'm not sure what my buddy was talking about, but he called me up today and said there was a corroded terminal on the dizzy or something and he cleaned it up and it was fine, I'll have to have him show me, but thanks for all the help, really appreciate it.
