Clarification on installing distributor (TD-80U)
Hi all,
I had previously posted a thread about the TDC sensor going bad in my 97 Civic EX and was suggested to replace the distributor housing. Now that i have got it and before i get going with the installation, i need some advise.
I would like to know if replacing the distributor is a simple 3 screw removal and proper installation of the distributor. Some DIY posts talk about timing adjustment too. But most places i read and even some youtube video show them replacing the distributor and not performing a timing correction. So, i would like to know if they have managed to hit the right timing most times upon installation or if they are missing this aspect after the installation procedure.
Thanks,
Kris.

Re: Clarification on installing distributor (TD-80U)
For the most part, yes. Take the distributor cap off, note which way it is pointing, and reinstall it the exact same way. You shouldnt have to time it unless you turned the distributor at anytime. Also make sure you transfer the plug wires one at a time to the new distributor in the same spots as well. They are in a certain order. If you have the distributor rotor pointed in the same direction as when you pulled it out, there shouldnt be need to adjust timing, unless it was off from the get go
