b4ra tranny diy clutch pack compressor tool?
I just rebuilt my b4ra trans in a 99 civic ex but am stuck on rebuilding the clutch packs because i can not get that heavy piston spring to go down with 2 c clamps... have tried it many ways.... i know there's a special tool from honda 07LAEPX40100 but they want 55$ ! just for that piece and i could compress it with a c clamp that way. Does anyone know of ANY tool that would do this for far cheaper ???

The clutch packs shouldnt be tight you need a clearance of like .03 or .05 or something between the snap ring and your top Plate. Unless we're talking about something different but clutch packs need to be able to slip or the clutch pack would self destruct in no time

You can make the tool if you have some 1/8" steel plate and a way to bend it. Have you ever seen it? There's not much to it really. I'll see if I can find a picture later.
The last time I needed one I borrowed it from the local Honda dealer, I also used to work there and buy a lot of stuff from them though. I doubt they'll just lend that stuff out to just anyone.

94eg8 you got it. I have seen a pic of the tool I need but the local place wants 75 now for that piece of **** metal...55 online but I have to wait. Other than bending a piece of metal is there anything else you'd suggest ? The car is out of service till I get these clutch packs compressed. (Had to change the o rings of course so had to pull them apart) I have a dial indicator for the clutch packs so checking clearances is not the problem. Its compressing the spring to put the snap ring in that I'm stuck on. If you have a pic or an idea of a tool you know works please post it. Thanks.
