Icon6 1998 Honda civic lx tranny problem need help

i have a AUTOMATIC 98 honda civic lx with transmission problems
when im driving and when it shifts either 2nd to 3rd gear i notice that it free revs for a short period of time then kicks into gear kinda rough and sometimes i can hear gears grinding while driving. It doesn't do it all the time though sometimes ill drive it without any problems but other times its pretty bad. Also when i pull out say from parking and when i put it into drive or reverse it kicks into gear pretty hard but again sometimes it doesnt kick and is smooth but other times i almost hit a car it jerks so bad.
when i first got the car it had 120,000 miles on it and when i got it it had no transmission fluid at all but i had it serviced soon after i bought it and fluid put in. After the fluid was put in it stopped for a bit but soon after the problems came back.
I have little tranny knowledge and i need advise on what to do like get it flushed or just have a new tranny put in
the engine itself is flawless and everything on the car is perfect but the tranny and i dont want to sell or anything im trying to fix it up JDM style
HELP PLEASE!!!

Trans is on its last leg...
Not worth the price of a rebuild
Source one from a pick and pull yard or craigslist partout and pull the trans and swap in

I rebuilt mine for 400$ total. With a new converter new springs and a tci "racing" kit. It is worth the price of a rebuild if you do the work yourself. The only set back is special tools you need. When you get a junkyard tranny you get a possibly dirty soon to be failing one. You still have to flush the cooler lines etc but whys that gonna matter if the trans wasnt maintained anyways? You can go through several junk transmissions or just rebuild it yourself. If you love your car, get with synchrotech for a new one... 1400$ ? or trial and error every 2 months to a year with junkyard transmissions? In the end you'll end up paying far more than 1400$ anyways. Its like oem to aftermarket... 3 aftermarket junk replacement distributors over the years... pays for one oem one that will last 15.
