Default B16a pistons in a GSR block, could i pass smog?

Ok i need to redo my block soon cause im getting a weird noise from it and when i did my oil change i saw alot of debree in there. So what im thinking is that a piston is goin. I heard that a B16A2 piston fits in and it bumps up the compression to 11.5:1 - 11.7:1. I was thinking of throwing those in, but will i be able to pass smog? Or is the compression to high? And would the pistons fit on my GSR rods? and also could i use my old rings or do i need B16 rings? Thanks.

B16 pistons will work. With a PR3 piston, your compression ratio will be 11.69:1. Use the rings meant for the pistons you use.

I'm not entirely sure how smog checks work, but I wouldn't think increased compression would cause you to fail. The way I understand it, something like a change in the cat, or more fuel, is what would cause you to fail.

Does anyone know if it will pass smog? and also, do i have the block honed to fit the pistons in or will they just go straight in?

Well I don't know sure, but AFAIK the GSR block is a little smaller so it adds .3 to the compression ratio. Witht hat in mind, I'd imagine you'd have to do a little bit of work to get it to fit in nice.

well its similar to putting ctr pistons in a gsr block...i did that
the ctr(pct) pistons give higer comp cause of a bigger dome
but they fit you rods, i would buy new rings anyways and either a get 81 mm (standard size) pistons and just do a light hone to smooth the cylinder walls or get 81.25mm overbore pistons and get your block bored to fit, i just got std pistons and a light hone and unfortunately i shoulda overbored because the main reason i did the rebuild was because i had messed up rings.....
do it right the first time, get the oversized pr3 pistons and rings new, the bore your block and install...and enjoy
