Default 00' civic sedan gears won't shift (automatic)

Hello guys I have a quick question before I take it to the dealership. When I am driving and then when I proceed to park I notice that when I put my automatic gear from d4 to p it has a hard time it is like it doesn't wanna budge...but after a few wiggles it will budge. I notice when I go from Park to Reverse it does this as well...it doesn't happen all of the time but it happens at least 2 or 3 times a week.

Does anyone know what this could be possibly?

Do you mean the car doesn't want to move or the actual shifter doesn't want to move? Accords were bad about the shifter cables going bad and binding, yours could be doing that.

I would agree. My first car was a 95 Altima with auto transmission. After it was totaled(not my fault thank god:-)) i got my 99 civic with manual trany. Bottom line, ill never go back to auto BUT this is "honda-tech" and he does have a 'honda' and needs some 'tech' help so its good hes/he asked

Well thanks for your help. I am a woman by the way. You are right technically this is a tech forum so I just thought I'd ask.

The shifter doesn't wanna budge sometimes but if you guys aren't interested in automatics then forget it.

One thing you may check is the brake switch, it is what lets your selector move out of park. If it's bad you will have trouble from time to time till it eventually goes out.
