Re: (nycludekid)
well... I think I'm gonna finally get back down to work on it tomorrow. I really wish that when I started I had filled in all the dents, etc. but now I know what to do next time. If I ever do this project again, it will be with a spray gun.

Apparently you missed the whole point of this thread. He was trying something new on a project car.
Do you have any recent pics?

Re: (squashman702)
looks not too bad, but why didn't you bondo over the dent in the hood before painting the whole thing?
i might would have rented a air compressor and a air gun for a couple of bucks

Yeah, theres alot of things I would've done differently now, hindsight is 20/20 yano. It's ok tho, I don't plan on having the car too long, it was just an experiment and a cheap fix for a dead paint job.
I'll probably have more pics up tonight

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
What do you guys think about the side moldings? Since I sanded all of the beige paint off of them, they're really uneven and dull now, I'm thinking about just color matching them now, might look alot cleaner...

I'd say return them to black. Did you take any pics at all recently?

since your car was so dark, you should have primed it with white paint first before putting on the cream color. It would have saved you a few coats, and the blue wouldnt show through.

Re: (.ken)
I'm getting tired of how it's been looking, but I'm planning on getting an actual paintjob sometime after the motor goes on me. Something around the 2k price range, this was just a temporary fix until the motor goes on me, not using that as an excuse tho. I'm still gonna try and get the most out of this job as I possibly can, and who knows, maybe I'll have the courage to use a compressor and booth myself when I do the actual paint job and save myself a couple hundred.

Re: (fventura03)
yeahhh, I'm thinking of color matching the side moldings, it's just too hard of an area to mask/sand. I was either gonna touch up the areas I screwed up while sanding the paint off of them, or just color match em. I think I might just go with painting them...

Re: (sixfiveoh)
can anyone else chime in on whether or not i should finish off the car by colormatching the side moldings? It would look cleaner for now, since I can't get the front and back ones to stop looking dull, and my masking on them sucks. I just don't know if it would go with the flow of the car. I plan on having them painted black when I do my real paint job after the motor goes in... but any suggestions on whether or not to colormatch them now?

yeah, i think i might... i originally tried some semi gloss black paint, but it looked like ****... maybe because i didn't prime them first it's also hard to mask the moldings off perfectly, but i guess i gotta try
