99 Accord EX wont go above 4K RPMS
Any Help would be great for my problem. I have a 99 Accord EX and the Check engine light is showing a 22 code. The car also intermittently will not rev above 4000 rpms. If it gets to 4k its like it downshifts on its own to stay below 4K (auto transmission) If I stop the car and restart it works fine. Any ideas??

Code 22 is for the VTEC oil pressure switch.
1) Running low on oil? Old & thin - not enough pressure?
2) Look along the back of the head, near the throttle body, for a sensor with a green plastic electrical plug. Loose plug? Broken wire? Corroded terminals?
3) That sensor is in a spool valve which can possibly be blocked with crud, old oil sludge, whatever. Post back after checking 1 & 2, if you wanna try cleaning it yourself.

The VTEC solenoid is at the top of the spool valve, it has a grey plastic 1-wire connector. That would throw code 21 if it was messed up.
The VTEC oil pressure switch is screwed into the side of the spool valve, & it has a green plastic 2-wire connector.
If you take the whole spool valve off from the head, there should be a rubber gasket underneath. There's a screen, located with that gasket or maybe moulded right into it. Get a new gasket & if the screen isn't included clean it.
