22 is the VTEC oil pressure switch, not the solenoid. That one can be caused by low oil level. Make sure your oil pressure's OK. Otherwise, check wiring to the switch.

Yea as before, code 22 is VTEC pressure switch, I had the same problem almost, my VTC would engage but it would cut off at 7500rpm's, and the code 22 popped up, so we tried changing the sensor (the little green plug), and it broke on us so we put an entire new solenoid on it and now it works perfect, i didnt know what it was at first cause i had just changed the oil so i knew it wasnt low oil or anything, just hopes that helps you a little

if your not sure of what your doing dont try to fix it yourself. to check oil pressure you need an oil pressure gauge. it should be around ten psi at idle and go up to about 40 psi by 2500 rpm. if their is not enough oil pressure your vtec will not engage since it is more important to feed the engine oil instead of your vtec. if it is low oil pressure it could be a # of things. it also has to do with engine bearing wear and tear and wear of other angine components. if you not sure take it in to honda service and they will diagnose your problem for about 80 bucks.

looks like it's fixed. we'll have to see if it holds up a few weeks later. basically i just took off the whole solenoid and cleaned it out. there was lots of debris in there. i hope it lasts.

Even if you have to do this every year or 2, that's not a horrible fate.

anybody ever heard of a oil restricter valve??? the honda mechanic said that that's what's probably holding the oil back from the head and solenoid that's why my vtec isn't working....ttt
