Not necessarily. Look at the J's CRX from way back when. The fenders looked like ****, but they were functional. My goal was to make them look similar, but MUCH more clean.

After looking at the first pic again, how exactly was it boxed? It doesnt appear to be welded since blue paint is still on the lower edge.

That's so sick. I always wanted to find some fenders like that, save for the real J's being out of my range.

just picked this 89 Si shell up today. it already has koni/gc's, legend front rotors w/accord calipers, gsr rear disc, gsr master cylinder, 4040 prop, all stainless brake lines, arp studs, edm headlights, edm taillights, edm corners, edm spoiler, and the interior is as mint as they come.

Awesome teasers Nick, Judging by what those guys did with Ryans Integra, I wouldnt worry about a thing. Keep us updated!

Random: I dont think Ive ever noticed your passenger mirror delete (even though it probably came that way considering its an HF) Not sure what made me notice in that picture.
Now Im curious.. does the passenger side door come with the holes to mount a mirror onto it in the DX(standards), or HF's? I know it would be crazy for honda to make 2 different kinds of doors, but wouldnt surprise me either.
both my 88 and 91 crx are si's and have both mirrors, so im not sure if it was by the years or just by the models. Not very important... just curious.

I think the Y49 is his 3rd or 4th EF, but the first one that was clean enough to build and keep. Tiny little dings here and there, no rust except the sunroof panel, and all the good suspension/brake mods you could ask for. PERFECT bolsters on the seats which completely blew my mind.

this is my 7th ef, but its my first one that ive wanted to keep. the rest were just flips. im on my 4th crx(white hf, white si, red si, and now this y49 si, 2 red hatches and 1 blue hatch.) this is however by far the cleanest one i have found and have wanted to keep.

just curious, whats the "y49: cursed" mean?

No...the side skirts will be cut and the metal will be extended further down.

Agree with what you're saying, just saying the Js didn't have it, but again, I do think it's necessary. I can't answer your question though since the pics were sent to me by the shop manager. I'm going in later this week to check out progress.

I don't think J's ever made fenders for the crx. My flares are also not installed yet.

This is actually a totally different body shop. Reputable though as the stateside RWB Porsches get painted there. As for the mirror, ive never taken the plate off to check. The HFs were like that from the factory. Amazing how little things were changed or left off to save weight (like my old 3/4 radiator)

Oh nice.. well be sure to post updates! She looks really clean... Been looking for a sunroof panel myself for my 88 y49... which I repainted inside and out and under in hopes to rattle the curse off of it. Muahahha.

The y49 curse is... well... wait for Bart to arrive. or just type "y49 curse" into google.. Dont even write crx.

Im sorry man, thought you had gone to the same place.. but those RWB Porsche's are something else, so heck, even better!

3/4 rad? hmm.. that explains that weird radiator I pulled/replaced on the old mans crx I worked on last summer. Thought I had the wrong one at first.
I do find it all very interesting. You ever pull that cover off be sure to investigate!

Has anyone ever put a passenger mirror on an HF?! Seem to see a lot of people remove the pass. mirror, wonder if anyone goes backwards and adds it!

Matt's Y49 CRX-

The hood blew up on it's first maiden voyage and destroyed the windshield, hood, a fender, and was the funniest thing I've ever experienced in a car. We laughed so hard I think my sides still hurt from 7 years ago and the lady driving next to us that was freaking out when we made the hood fly up is still trying to figure out WTF was going on.

The transmission had a mean leak that wasn't there when he bought the car and it damn near caught fire on maiden voyage #2.

The car was parted out and the engine was sold to a shop. The kid who ended up with the engine had catastrophic engine failure within a month.

Some say once the shell went to the new owner's home. The house burned down starting from a fire in the garage. The house burned to the foundation, but the CRX shell sat perfectly right next to the house and the burned garage.

I made up the last part, but didn't want to end with some retard blowing up his motor.

That motor may have blown up because my giggling sister took it to about 9500rpms.

Forgot about that part.... Wish I could have been there for that ride haha. Your quiet little sister revving the **** out of a B16 CRX had to be awesome.

I remember it like yesterday. For that reason, I doubt she'll be driving the sedan any time soon!

Ya that works, any pics on the latch mounting? That was the piece that was a little more confusing to me.

Nick, epic work man, are you going to cut the fender flares shorter to fit the new shorter arch?

Dont forget people like smokinsax and that dude from Atlanta (forgot his name, sold it off for a Z coupe or w/e) have had clean *** y49 for a very long time.

I just know if you repaint it, the curse will get angry.
