I hear ya, but it's a better option than lowering the motor and smashing header after header.

this weekend my automotive life will change.

it looks like my hatch will be a nearly-strictly track car, as i'm buying a "street" car project (which i'll probably just build/sell/profit, but i might fall in love with it)

71 240z
94 mustang cobra 5.0/t5 trans (100k miles, runs great)
r200 diff
5 lug/big brake conversion/konis/coilovers
all new bushings
custom subframe connectors/new floor

its one of my dream cars. always wanted one...but the profitability might be too high to keep it once its done.

engine is in, needs full assembly though, sorting, finish work, driveshaft.

2000$.

Not really concerned with smashing the header up, hell, the Innovative traction bar hangs at LEAST an inch lower than the header. Besides, I'm currently on stock suspension with plans to go 4WD and raise her another half to one inch.

Well, from the looks of it, you just convinced me to lower the motor.... I see what you did there Although, the thought never really crossed my mind so I've done zero research at this point and a quick search will probably answer a few of these questions. Will this affect geometry at all with respect to the axles?

what a sick project....

Lots of fabrication involved? Ive never seen under the hood of one of those before so is this going to be a tight fit, banging of the firewall, modding of the steering rack?

Done all in ONE weekend???

driving to st. louis tommorrow to pick it up.

http://tehsandbox.com/showthread.php?t=27312

going to need a lot of work..but the major bits are all there.

plan is to

a)finish new floors/subframe welding
b)finish engine-crap fab/put flares on it/sell cobra wheels/buy used sportmax's.
c)primer everything
d)make run. make good brackets for everything, sort the car out. run it hard on track, etc.
e)take whole car apart, strip is, smooth it, etc
f)paint it with my buddies help. RED. same as my hatchback.
g)enjoy for a while
h)keep it forever or sell for massive profit.

it'll be a build i've wanted to do since i was 17 and saw one. heck yes.

i'm going to shoot for the moon with it, ON A BUDGET.

i want to build it for perfection. i havent ever done that. i think a fab/assemble/run/sort/teardown/paint/reassemble wil be the best way

and they are ridiculously simple cars.

long weekend this was at Carolina Motorsports Park...don't think i've ever used the red and black flag this much...ever. only managed 3 groups before lunch and none of them finished their session. the GTR was going for the course record, but that didn't turn out well, along with the subaru avoiding the tires and taking out 2 trees

dang jolly, your going all out this year, huh?

BLU, i heard on a road-race board that the surface at CMP was completely difficult to drive, kinda unpredictable, and plain Slippery.

was it more driver error, crashes, or pavement issues you think?

hope the pavement is ok, i'm headed there in a month-ish!

Saturday was good, Subday morning was a different story...dunno what was going on. about 35 minutes of racing in 3.5 hours. Things got better that afternoon but i dunno what was going on. i took 4 laps around in the Audi and surface wasn't slippery, but i was going pace car speed. GTR was going for the course record. ran a 1:36 on saturday and i believe the kink got him on sunday. 120mph into the tires. such a nice car too
