The Official EF Discussion Thread
Didn't see this until right now...it would have helped a lot. I did succeed today in finishing the complete swap of the seat covers and foam from the 91 seat to the 89 seat pan and back. I've built 2 motors, a few head swaps, but I must say this was one of the most annoying things I've ever done on a car. I can honestly say that knowing is half the battle. lol. Over all it looks good and not looking forward to doing my psgr side. Blah! Thanks for the insight guys.
Happy New years!!
Not that I need a new sway bar, but saw an ASR bar in the for sale thread so I was looking around..
I see that ASR offers a 24mm and 32mm hollow bar for the Civic/CRX/EF.
Has anyone tried out either bar? pro's/cons of either?
I remember the hollow bar only being out for integra's and maybe EG's. Really have not looked at any new parts in some time.. Gotta get started on these fuel.clutch lines.

I ran a rear bias set-up for years (10k front/12k rear) and after I became faster on track, the car still pushed. Now I'm running 11k front and rear and will be picking up the ASR soon. My car needs some serious help in the oversteer dept.
I'm planning to run 12/14. I need to get to work on my project. I figured if its not enough id throw on the asr along with a front sway but I'll wait to see how it rides without either

I'd avoid that front sway all together...or run the smallest possible (stock or next model down).
Does that ASR rear plate work with a rear tie bar? I have a MFactory rear tie bar, the spherical bearings are thick to begin with, they supplied me with spacers and longer bolts to use as well. Curious as to how a tie bar over that plate would work.. or if that would even be necessary. Could ***** another picture of my set-up if needed..
I do like that ASR bar a lot more than my ST one, but I will wait for some reviews on it..thats an expensive piece. seats, roll bar and fuel lines are much more important right now.. just want winter to be over!

there's no point in the tie bar with the ASR brace, think about it, the brace is already tying in both mounting points, and along a larger surface area. It would end up being strictly for being "jdm" at that point...
the reason you would want to reinforce the subframe is because subframe tearout is possible.

but those overpriced ASR pieces aren't necessary. look into the Beaks Subframe reinforcement kits. not the tie bars, the reinforcement kits.
Which is a problem with the eg/dc/ek due to the sway bar mouting to the subframe. NOT with EF's since the sway mounts to the frame rails. ASR kit isn't necessary unless you want to run their sway bar.
Is the 24 with the plate a better option than the 32 without it? Just looking for reviews on both. Please post teasers of the new wheels!
IIRC, the 32mm bar can be used like pictured above, or with the subframe brace kit. That's the 32 mm KIT shown above though. Sub frame rip out is not NEARLY as common on EF's since the sway bar was not originally mounted to the subframe. HOWEVER it CAN happen in certain instances, as I have seen posts about it, yet to see one though because of the sway causing the tear out. I wish I had my 24 mm installed and my car were running so I could give you a review, but I can not. Give JHP USA a call, and ask for ROB. He is running the ASR with 24 mm on his sedan, and was one of the first people that I know of that ran the kit when ASR released it.
