currently building my old B16b block to go in a friends hatch
Hell, blu, if you lived closer to me, I'd help you. I'm rebuilding my LS right now. My head is in the shop getting seals and stuff replaced. As soon as I get a head gasket and new rings, I'll be assembling it. I've built like 5 motors now. It's really not that hard. You just have to pay attention to details.
problem with his engine is if it was so messed up inside, its not really a candidate for a rebuild anyways.. you'd need a new crank at the very least.
then, even a stock rebuild , with only a hone/re-ring is going to be 300 or so with parts/some machine work.
sometimes its cheaper to just buy another..but i cant believe they arent cheap there.... i see so man 350$ LS engines here. haha

unfortunately i my area, LS's aren't that cheap when you find one. i'm just going to sell the LS i have now when i get another. money isn't something i have right now and i just want to get my car running. been going on 8 months since i drove it. i'll be buying a spare from HMotors. my car has been down more than i've been able to drive it. i have no problem rebuilding a motor, but i'll take the easy route and buy a motor so i can be able to drive my car sooner than later.

Holy shizz! $800? That's way expensive for an a1...even a B18b. I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do, but I sold my b18a1 in perfect shape with mounts, trans, clutch, etc. for $500.
b18a1 motor w/ polished b1 valve cover
ls trans sell for maybe $100
full wiring harnesssell to someone doing an MPFI swap for maybe $50
stock ecu sell for $20
f1 stage 3 clutchkeep and sell my stage 2 6-puck for $25
hasport motor mounts keep and sell my current mounts for $50
hasport shift linkage sell for $80
skunk2 intake manifold keep
thermal intake gasket keep
ebay cold air intake sell for $15
stock civic radiator probably keep
dc sport header sell for $75
header back exhaust for 88-91 civic hb sell for $75
also comes with extra parts that i'll most likely sell. if all that goes as planned, that’s $490, and if I’m able to sell my messed up complete LS for $150, that’s $640 that I’d make back
Ran a 15.2 this weekend at Nationals.. I know, its slow.. but for my beater with a bone stock b16, I was stoked!...3rd run, slammed 3rdgear and actually snapped my shift **** right off the shifter... no threads left, so had to make my last passes with just a little nub sticking up! was a great weekend!
Pictures of the chalk job up a little later.

with using a taller FMIC that is 8-12" tall do you have to cut the bumper support?
how call of FMIC can you run before having to cut the bumper support brace?

yes you will have to cut. i'm using a Precision 350hp intercooler and it measures 26.75 x 6.25 x 3.5 and i cut the seam at the bottom of the crossmember to get it to be a better fit or you can have it sitting lower...maybe
Disclaimer: I know this is nothing to brag about, its just for fun.
I entered my beater CRX into the Sport Compact Fall Nationals. Here is some pictures of the day. The paint is chalkboard, so yes.. all that madness on it washed right off.

Broke the shift **** clean off the threads hitting 3rd on my 3rd pass.. Completed the run but than I pulled the boot and rubber cover off so I could still drive the car.

It was a good day, Ive been to this event so many times, sometimes it gets old. This is just my beater and I know it is not the fastest by a long shot, but its all about having fun. I got a total of 4 runs squeezed in, best run of the day was a 15.2 that I was stoked on, I think I could still do better though. The shifter snapping off made for an interesting run, I thought of replacing it there, but I honestly didnt want to waste 90$ on a skunk2 when I have another OEM one at home. (its just a beater) It ran consistent 15.5, I dialed in at 15.6 due to the broken shifter, wasnt so confident on pulling the same time. Everyone is free to comment as they please but please do remember, this is strictly for fun.

Yes, It is all done in fun, I dont think anyone is being FORCED to work on there car. I am unsure if you are coming off as a smart ***, or just mis-reading the context of the word fun. Let me clarify for you either way... Fun, as in, this car was built with leftover parts and spray cans. My other car is still fun to build, but.. not as fun as rattle canning and drawing chalk all over a car I built in less than 2 weeks.
I have "fun" building my other car as well, but my expectations are a lot higher, which turns fun into stress at times.. Here is some of my other project to give you an idea as to how serious I take the beater..

Oh no, there was no misunderstanding, I knew exactly what you were referring to. And I actually just perused through your build thread this morning. And I wasn't trying to be a smart-***.
I was simply saying that all of this, everything you do to customize/mod/track/or otherwise your car, should be in the name of "fun". If somebody wants to run around flaming your "fun" car.... **** em

Thanks for checking out my thread man! I love this stuff/sport/hobby... whatever you want to call it. Hope everyone can enjoy my picture whoring. Just going at each car with a different state of mind and overall expectations.
The word of the Day is : FUN!

My beater is just a beater. I havent modded it at all yet. I have taken mods off to convert it to stock though. It had a short ram, put a stock intake box/arm back on. VC was painted blue, got a black one from a junkyard (cuz I'm too lazy to repaint the damn thing, lol). It had some other make steelie on it that was warped so I replaced it with a steelie from a 91 civic. replaced the rear view mirror that just spun around loosely. replaced the front brakes and battery the day I got it. It needs new struts, but I'm afraid I'm going to snap bolts in the process, so I dont want to bother with it. It rides okay since the springs are so soft.
I try not putting any money into the beater, its all just leftover parts. cant avoid buying new brakes and batterys.. and I needed a windshield. There is something I am in need of now though.. A new shifter! I purchased a skunk2 for my other car, but Im thinking of just throwing it on the beater now, I was looking at the Fastline shifters, they seem to be very well made and look solid. price is up there... any input from anyone using one??
Its either, buy a new one for the queen and throw the skunk2 one on the beater or just buy an OEM integra( i think the DA is the dual-bend) one and keep it simple. I dont have much space between the bottom of the shifter and the exhuast with the oem shifter, I think a short shifter may be too long for this.
