Yep, they are absurd. I respect that some utilize them and, indeed, they are a necessity, but I'll be glad when the trend fades and the fan boys jump off that bandwagon.
Yeah after I priced them I went and looked in the Official roof rack thread and it blew my mind that so many people would spend that much, and not use it.

Yeah that's ludicrous. You mean people buy them just for the looks? Their entire existence is for function haha. I paid $50 for mine used. Usually the only thing vehicle specific are the feet, so scour craigslist for deals

Only when the roads are clear though...my old Azenis rt-215's dont' make very good snow tires
i actuall sold mine on craigslist for $175 to some guy that couldn't get it to fit on his car...after the first time we tried to get it attached i knew it wouldn't fit and figured he was going to pass, but he bought it anyways saying that he couldn't pass up a good deal...
amen. bald 615's dont do any better. i have my skis on my rack all of winter. and use my bike on it when im not lazy. and i got my rack for free.
I have a generic hatch trunk mount rack that I use for me, my wife and our daughters bikes.
I actually wish I had something big enough to just toss the bikes in, or a hitch mounted rack, much easier than lifting onto the roof.

Hey guys can anyone tell me what this is and can i remove it without affecting anything? cant get photobucket to circle it... its the thing sticking out to the left and slightly above of the fuel line outlet
Thats the fuel tank breather line. In order to get rid of it, I suppose you could cut it waaaay back where it starts (where the fuel tank is) and let it vent there.
