True, every setup is a bit different, but once you go past the point where the non-VTEC and VTEC lobes make the same power (optimum engagement point), you will always have a harsher engagement.

Think of it this way: Say your stock VTEC point is 5000 rpms. If you set VTEC at 7000rpms on stock cams, the non-VTEC lobe is going to really be falling on its face. At 7000 rpms (or whatever higher-than-stock setting you want) the VTEC lobe of the cam is going to be making a LOT more power than the non-VTEC lobes are. It's that jump in power which accounts for that harder "kick".

The higher you set it above the optimum point, the more the non-VTEC lobe will be falling on its face, and the more power the VTEC lobe should be making.</TD></TR></TABLE>

are the results the same if you engage vtec earlier....say 3700??
Is it an increase in more power and then fall on it face later or will the power sustain itself??
Reason I ask is people say LS has long gear ration and when using on a b16 or any vtec engagement engine it feels "torqueless". So lets say we use a vtec controller and engage it earlier...better results??

I had a V-AFC in my CRX and I thought it was counter-productive to lower the engagement point below 4500. That was purely by feel, though, no actual dyno results.

I take it you are running stock valvetrain on that setup! Isnt it kind of a waste to have to shift that low in a b16?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Nah, I've got a B18B in the rex now. No more torqeless wonder for me...I cannot wait to install my type R tranny!

I think I'd take an LS over the B16. Then maybe boost it.

ANyone got comments on the AVID RACING EFB2 mount kits? A distributor is offering the entire avid kit to me for the same price as he is offering the hasport hydro tranny mount and hydro conversion...

Speaking of which, I still have a set of EF hatch mud flaps and 90-91 side moldings for sale.

I love your car, and I don't think it looks half asses at all.

I'd change the mirrors if it were mine.

Please keep your flaps! Unless you have jdm ones or sumthing. I love mud flappers.

The USDM ones won't clear the skirts. I'm going to run no flaps at first.

I've done "some" research, people bash them other people say they are great. Its hit and miss.

I'm calling the fab guy tomorrow to set up a time to deliver my hatch for eng bay fab and stitch welding. We'll discuss roll cage fab/design also. Anyone have any suggestions for me on a 8pt cage? We're using DOM for sure, none of the seamed mild steel.

yea I just read several threads on them. Some ppl say they dont fit well. have high engine placemtn (but dont hit the hood?). Other love them and say they are just as good as hasport. Both of my B series rub my hood liner with the hasport mounts. More so than they did with the Place Racing mounts I used to have...

I'm not a fan of Place Racing mounts. Maybe because they were virtually solid on a DD and a 4 puck.

I liked mine, I only went with Hasport cuz it looked like they had a little more clearance with the bend at the headlight bracket.

Do any of you have personal experience with Avid?

These will be solid, but it won't be a DD.

yeah thats thing. You'll get a cult bias against them for the name alone and people wont respond to them as well. But I would PM the people who have them ask them about any reoccurring problems or issues that have come up since owning it. What kind of driving they do and all.
Trannys ain't cheap...well B16 cable ones for that matter
