Did you do your side molding too? im thinking of taking the cheep way out and just spraying mine with that sem ****

I have used SEM trim black in the past and it fades after a few months in the sun. I am trying a different paint this time from SEM. I just bought it today but I forgot exactly what it is called. It is different from the Trim Black in that it has a texture to it. I havent used it yet but I might spray some this weekend.
If it doesnt work I might buy some gloss black 2 part paint and have the paint shop add some chemicals to it to get more of a satiin look. Satin paints can be real tricky with temperature so I would like to avoid this approach.

why not make a use ghetto molds to make your custom lips? someoone had modded a password lip to fit on their ef usdm front, it looked really good. i think the lip would look better if it wasnt the same color as the car (well except black). it needs some contrast. it does look kinda odd with the painted lip sometimes though. i remember seeing a car restoration show on a channel similar to hgtv, and they made replica taillights for some old (like 1940s-1950s) car. it was pretty neat. they had the taillight, they they put some anti adhesive liquid then they made the mold, after it dried they cut the mold in half (to have a top and bottom), and then mixed up some liquid plastic stuff, added red dye, and then poured it and voila, NOS tailight.

The lip just doesnt flow well with the hatchback, accept it.
You're right, if u hear me complaining, it will be about the quality of the stuff already out there.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
quality is one thing i can understand complaining about...
as far as the lip not flowing well
i like mine...maybe it looks different since it's black on a red car...on the white cars they seems to look HUGE, LOL...i just keep hearing the countless h-t members replies playing in my head "oh i wish they made that lip" "OH, OH, where can i get that j's lip" "OMG ASSword makes that lip now!!! MUST HAVE" LOL!!! but i guess these are the things that make us less clone like...one reason i have a giant wing on my car...

Just because its one of a few lips made for the hatch doesnt make it a good looking or even good quality part. It sucks that there are becoming fewer and fewer parts for the ef but that doesnt mean we should lower our standards.
If it were me and only had that lip to choose from I either wouldnt buy it or I would customize it to look the way I want. We have to face the facts that our cars are becoming more like old hard to find domestics and will soon be faced with having to do more custom work to get what we want!
Think, about 5-10 years from now there will be virtually nothing left in stock at the Honda dealer for any EF.</TD></TR></TABLE>
the lip was made because of the high demand...somebody noticed people wanted it REALLY bad and decided to knock it off...they didn't just decide to produce them on a whim...as far as lowering standards, nobody said anything about accepting crappy parts, however don't forget the fact that MOST ef owners are penny pinchers in the first place...and are working on a car that they got "stuck with"...therfore the high dollar hotrodder attitude may not play a role because it is clear that they want to be the best looking and fastest for damn near free...LOL...i deal with it everyday...knowing that i think that manufactures are not concerned with really "finished" products, which is something that would raise cost...
you are right our cars are part of a dying breed...and parts are hard to come by..maybe the smart thing for somebody to start doing is remanufacturing oem parts such as moldings, mudflaps, window trim, dashes etc...
anyway...i like my lip...
so there!

Why did you wetsand the basecoat Dicky? When you spray 2 stage you spray the base and then the clear about an hour later. The actual spraying process should only take a few hours! Dude you are milking the **** out of your paint job!

6 weeks. the car has been painted 3 times in that time and sanded back to bare metal because of blemishes and issues with the reducer reacting with primer or something. had a lot of problems.
i could have just slapped some clear on it a month ago and been done with it and had a sub par paint job like 80% of the **** you see with orange peel all over the place. but i wanted it perfect and i work 10 hrs a day as it is.
831 dollars in paint later, and i am buffing saturday night. freakish reactions with primer and paint but its all figured out now.
i was soooooooooooooooooo close to getting 2 quarts of rustoleum olive drab yesterday and spraying the bitch like a hummer. so so so so so ******* close. i was AT the hardware s tore and had to walk out. i coudlnt let myself do it.

there is a difference between joking and being defensive. You should try to not be so defensive all the time.

not even close...but getting there.
Seriously to even use those side skirts you have to make sure your door it proped up right and properly aligned.
When I had them on the other car as you can see closing the door was almost a headach because it would scrap the paint off. I sanded them down and everything but it would still rub like hell.
I'm going to try to fit them on this car soon and hope for the best if not then I'm selling them</TD></TR></TABLE>
