I think this is the point Streetwerkz was trying to make. When a shop takes the time to build a race car the point (in my mind) is to push the limits of a certain style of building to obtain information and experience that are valuable to their customers.
A good example is Scott at B-Series. When he first started running his CRX in the All Motor Street class, it was running a B-Series setup. By pushing that setup to the limit, he learned things and gained experience that helped him build better, faster, more reliable B-Series motors for customers. Then he switched to K-Series and did the same thing, pushed it to the limit, and now he can apply that knowledge to customer's cars.
The customers see his car competing and know that if they want to build an all motor street setup, even if it's not as extreme as his, he has shown through his race car that he has the knowledge and experience to do it right. That's why the race car is good marketing.
BUT if a shop owner simply throws an open checkbook at a car, having other shops do the work (ie motor is built somewhere else, etc.), he and his employees don't actually gain any knowledge or experience. Thus it can be considered almost deceptive to the customer, because they see the shop running a bad-*** K-series powered race car and they assume 'damn these guys must be K-series experts', when in reality no one at that shop could even bolt on the head and do a cam install.
Let's be clear here, I'm not talking about any specific shop, just generalizing.
If a shop pays to have a bunch of bad-*** cars built but they don't do any of the work themselves, all I see there is marketing hype - hyping up your shop without having the knowledge or experience to back it up.
That's all I have to say...

1. k23a1 isnt a destroked k24 its debored
still 99mm but shares the bore with a k20
think of it as a stroked k20
2. I leave for 2 days and this bitch bout gets locked.?????????
3. one of the reasons Ive heard the k23 wont work is the timing side mount is much different (correct me if im wrong) and the stock manifold probably wont offer good turbo placement....might as well just buy a crv motor (cough:tsx:cough)
and a manifold that works in our chassis and boost the snot out of it.
4. Got the roof, mirrors, fillers and bumpers worked and primed.
pix up soon

Yeah, but I think I'll keep mine. Every once in awhile I've been caught in the rain. We have what they call "weather" here in WI. It changes everytime you get used to it. The high on Sat. is supposed to be 4 degrees

I'm in the same boat, my friend. I think I've got every part I need to prep for paint. Seven months after I began...
Patience is a virtue, or so I am told.

patience is definatly a virtue...but ****, its coming on a year since the car last moved on its own power... im about to throw virtue out the window...come on prevailing wage jobs...$40+ /h is going to come in real handy... (x's fingers)
today was hopefully the first of many more to come... 8 hrs x $43.00 = $344.00 a day... x that by 5 days a week and i'll be done with the car before I know it...
