Lets take me for example I have/had a bunch of baller as rims...no motor.
Doesn't mean I couldn't have offered one. I just haven't done it yet. If you have money to spend on a motor then I'm pretty sure you have money to spend on rims with the right resources. Don't use buidling my motor an excuss. Just simply say " you don't feel like conforming to trends and you would rather buy some knock offs of the real thing" If you don't like the brand, why buy a cheaper wheel knock off of the real thing. I have no problem with knockoffs or people who buy them but when you go around saying yeah atleast my motor is fast my car is built then I look at you like so whats your point. If you can't afford it you can't afford it geeze. Geeze its a pointless rant and I"m just rambling now
But like I said for me. If I see some name brand rims at a killer price hell yeah I'm going to jump on them. Thats the same reason why I shop at Ross, TJ MAXX, Marshells, and Burlington Coat Factory. Cuz they have name brand clothing for below retail. And if I ever wanted to I can always sell whatever rims I have and use that money to buy my motor or parts (which is what I'm doing now) but because I have so many rims, even after I get my car done I'll atleast have another set of "baller" as rims to rock.
Some people spend to much time buying from the wrong people
ALL RIMS BREAK, name brand, knock off, copied, used, new it doesn't matter. With the right amount of stress anything will break.
[/rant][/ramble][/confussion] don't argue with me on the rim war because I've gotten rims for prices that would make any knock off buyer cry There is always an Extreme to every case</TD></TR></TABLE>

in agree with you, my brother works for marshalls and gets 10% discount off what he buys. i shop thrift stores sometimes too and find new stuff with tags still on for amazing prices. i saw an adidas track jacket for 18 when they go for 70 in foot locker, champs, etc.

in my case, im planning to redo my car and keep it usdm. i would like a jdm front end but the inflated price of them currently is not worth it. if it were early 2000 prices then yes. also comes into play the fact that my car will stay dd and i dont want to cry if someone hit my car (which people do all the time, how can you not see a yellow car?). the plan for the tranny is a simple rebuild with lsd added (prolly obx) and a engine rebuild with some upgrades (used smsp or bisi header, headwork, ported y8 manifold, tune), and some suspension pieces (revo arms, urethane bushings, ground control/koni coilover set). my limits for my car rebuild is going to be 10-15k. i have 3 cars to rebuild once school is done. whatever my dd is be it a crx, ef hatch, or ae86. the other two are both aircooled beetles. a hardtop or ragtop 1959-1963 beetle for me, and a 1958-1967 vw beetle convertible for my girlfriend.

its not a jdm vs usdm or real vs fake war
if you want to buy knock rims then you want to buy knock rims
if you want to buy real rim they you want to buy real rims

you could always go the other route and get some OEM rims, or use steelies

what you have done to your motor or car has nothing to do with it

I'm neither pro REAL or por FAKE
I'm all for buying whatever you want. And not making excusses for buying what you want other then because you WANTED to.

Well I've got an extra dependent this year, so hopefully it'll be significantly bigger than last year.

I'd like to also buy some EF9 moldings. If only I could find some...

Same here. I choose not to spend the money on buying and shipping a JDM front to WI in favor of engine mods. I have MR5's, but I kinda bought them unitentially. I love them though, even though I don't have the center caps/lug caps. Some day I'd like to buy a set of new wheels...maybe rpf1's. I choose not to buy a lot of expensive jdm stuff in favor of buying other parts. I could just buy a real rhd if I wanted. I agree with Vega. Just get what YOU want

For the amount of money I have spent on my car I could have owned a newer year car thats not a Honda.
but like I said I did it because I wanted too
We all own EF/EDs because we want to right

People are always going to give thier opinions on if they like it or not. But we need to stop letting people tell us what to buy, how to spend our money

yup, i have had newer cars and i enjoy cars with a more mechanical feel a whole lot more. i like feeling the road. if s2000s drop to 10k or lower in a couple years, then i will have that as my dd. i love my crx, but i will always be a RWD person. if there were 88-91 s2000 like cars made by honda, i would have that instead. i could care less about new cars and showing off. i love a car thats fun and has personality.

I found a clean wagonvan for $2950. Almost zero rust, 1.5L, 2wd, auto. Is that a decent deal? Probably the cleanest stock one I've ever seen in WI

There was a MINT '91 FWD wagon for sale here and the guy was asking $2500. It sat there forever, I was going to offer him $2k, but never got around to it.

Word. I've purchased 3 brand new Honda's, a couple barely used, and I am now back to an EF. Part of that is for financial reasons, but mostly because I've always wanted an EF hatch.

Got it. I had yet to check blue book or edmonds. it's a small dealership. I think its worth $1200-$1500 around here, mainly becuase it's rust free. It's not worht that much to me though. Maybe I'll offer $1k

I had a nice full time job while at community college, but now in the big leagues i dont have the time to make the money to get the baller rims. My priorities are on finishing and getting into a nice grad school. Im much happier i have my built b16a turbo then a set of rims. So yeah its my excuse. I spent the last 700 i had on koni and ground controls. Yeah there is afforable "real rims" But imo MR5 where always ugly to me. The only "Real rim" I would ever consider are volk te37 .

I dont goto car shows I dont need people to ride my dick about my rims or my rare jdm parts or anything. To me if the car doesnt atleast scare teh hell out of me or handle nice, its just a waste of my time.

Edit: I wear hanes t shirts and levis jeans, i dont waste my time with fads when it come to cloths either
