put that back up on ebay and buy a real clutch. you will deeply regret installing that piece of **** in a matter of miles.
xtd clutch in a coworkers hatch lasted 340 miles before the friction material just fell off the disc. they still ahven't sent a replacement. the car has been sitting torn apart since october waiting for a clutch.
exedy ftw...xtd ftl

i wish I had the pics on here of the exedy my bro-in-law bought that fell apart in 19 miles......
dont get me wrong I love exedy clutches and flywheels for that matter
i just dont want to spend very much money on this motor (in anticipation of the K)
and the main problem with the car was the flywheel was machined improperly (thats why i got it for $1k)
and I didnt feel like buying a stock flywheel for $$$$ so I just got this
oh and BTW its in the car already.....
its ok I got pulling a tranny down to about 45mins

how so?
how so?
if you just needed a flywheel you should have posted.
i see 6 holes so i assume dseries. i have 2 89-91's just getting rusty sitting under my workbench at work since none of the scrap guys want that ****. $45 resurfacing can fix that.
if you ever go b i have a few of those as well.
i don't doubt that there are bad exedy's out there...the issue is exedy will actually uphold their warranty if a defect occurs...xtd and ebay sellers essentially expletive you out of whatever warranty they try to promise.

did you contact daikin clutch or just the company you bought it through?
exedy will replace with proof of purchase (dates to make sure it isn't an old *** clutch that you are trying to scam tehm on) and proof of proper istallation (shop reciept-you can usually get a friend to fudge this one for you). the seller doesn't uphold the warranty...just the manufacturer.

yeah he bought it from a guy he knew
I told him to go to the manufacturer
so he comes back couple days later and says he sent it back to the guy and he was checking with the manufacturer to get a replacement....I almost punched him
havent heard anything from the dude and he doesnt have the clutch anymore
I should edit that earlier post cause it did sound like i was placing blame on exedy/diakin
but it was weird
I put it in everything was correct and he was pulling out of Home Depot and the car died
the center section separated and it had 19 miles on it no ****
clutches and stories about them can be shady cause you never know who did what to it when, like break-in and things like that

that cutaway is on display at type one garage. really cool looking from some of the other angles of the pics i have seen of it.
it is not ef related however since that is a b16a and not an a1. the cam oiling pipe that runs accross teh top of the cam journals is the late version machined piece and not the cast type piece that is in the a1.
