Are the MR5s +40 originally or +40 after your spacers?</TD></TR></TABLE>
MR-5s came in +45 and +38 offsets, and 6" and 6.5" widths. The 6" wide +45 wheels are pretty weak, but the 6.5" +45 final versions and the 6" +38 versions give the car a nice stance.

mine are +45 and 6 wide but they are only 14s. with the spacers they are +40 and sit quite nice.

Deftones, go to TireRack.com and look up "Specs" for nearly ANY 195 width tire.
Recommended rim width is 5.5" - 7" on almost every tire I could find.
TireRack isn't just some hole in the wall that sells tires. They're actually out there racing and sponsoring racers, so I trust their recommendations on something like this.

No tire rack is not some hole in the wall company...but even there reps disagree with you...despite what the "specs" on nearly every 195 width tire recomends on their website (I did check)...a few months back I was in the process of purchasing/researching a tire purchase. During that process I made several calls to tire-rack concerning tire size on a set of 15x7 rims I had...every rep I spoke with highly recomended I go with a 205 rather then a 195 tire...due to safety...
to further back this up...A very reputable Tire chain on the northern west coast (Les Schwab) would not even install a 195 on a 15x7 rim due to these same reasons....
based on my experiences:
195 yeah it can be done but its 100% safe
that being said...I ran 15" 38 off set rims with a 205 azenis...absolutly 0 rub on my car... However that same exact rim on my buddys crx rubbed... reason? suspension.... I ran a very stiff spring rate with a very subtle drop. were my buddy ran a very soft spring rate on a slightly lower drop...
I think alot of the speculation etc etc...comes down to suspension, differences in cars, even fenders...I know my aftermarket replacement fenders have a slightly larger lip on them then the oem ones...but in a game of MM it can make a difference...
my 2 cents... and like chad said...its your car...you can run 13x7 deep dish daytons on you car if you want I dont care...
