i dont know if they ever had the seat voilate them at any point but i was the same way. i had a mongoose before walmart got them, then a tj laven vegas bike (specialized) loved it till it got swooped up. had a haro for a short period and i broke the crank in the park and quit.
this bike was the one i had most of my childhood. different livery though and 24in not 26.

then i got a gt pro performer in chrome when i was 14.

at 15 i got a schwinn pro stock. i think i bent or cracked that frame. the seat/post/and cranks were not "stock". i actually think it came with one piece cranks.

then i got a s&m dirt bike when i got "serious".

none of those pics were my actual bikes.
after that i got an s&m butler which is what i started to get rowdy on.

then i got flow from fit so i got my series one. which i broke a few months later.

after my 2nd series one i got a series two which i dont think i have any pictures of. well scratch that..only pic i have. lol.

i guess it has to do with what you do. lol. ive taken plenty of slams one of which was at louisville in the full pipe. i was carving the whole wall hauling *****. once you get above vert your front wheel wants to come off the wall. it is fine you just let it be and crave back down into the wall. well it is like 6am and we have been there since like 830pm the night before. same thing as normal..i hit 10 oclock and my front wheel floats and catches..see you later. the full pipe i believe is 24 foot tall..i was at 10 oclock so say 20ish feet straight to flat on my knee. it swelled up to the size of a volleyball. mri the whole nine..luckily i just busted my bursa sack.
later that summer we were in florida riding. we went searching for pools and to hit this spot under a bridge. the pool search went know nowhere. the bridge spot was like 5 miles from where we were staying. under the bridge was a walkway that they also covered the rocks in concrete going up to the supports of the bridge. so it was real tight trannies everywhere fun little spot. well i went for this gap and got bucked then nose cased. which blew my front tire sent me otb and now my knee is PISSED. mind you it is like 2 or 3 in the morning in some small junk town in florida. im like no way this just happend..now i have to walk back with a bum knee. we walk about a quarter mile and boom 2 taxis. get a ride from them back..lol. that saved me a ton of grief.

lol. this was common discussion at the skatepark. i thought/think skating is nuts..you land 1 out of 10 tricks so 9 out of the 10 times you are landing ackwardly on your ankles etc. you guys say well you have this heavy bike to get away from..true but we also can bail and get the bike away from us. lol.

nothing like trying to do the running man out of a bail. i remember one time bailing at the muncie trails on the big set. a six pack that was all 25+ft gaps with 7 foot lips. i went off the second set and it just felt funny. so i bail and float and float and float. over shoot the landing by like 8 feet i do the running man to face plant due to the speed. i remember rolling over and seeing my two buddies looking at me. then deja vu hit..it was fricking crazy..i just buried my head in the leaves for a few minutes for it to go away. lol.
another time was down in bloomington there was some downhill trails some mountain bike guys were building. they were "secret" trails just as muncie so they werent touched by random whatevers. so first run i take one crank before going down the hill..bad idea. first set clear..second set way long..try to suck up the third set..nope way too much speed..bail..land on the fourth lip. lol. too much speed. put it this way we were checking our brakes before the first lip. the fourth set and a flatish type landing since it was somewhat of a step up. then about 15 feet then there was a roller which ended the set. before we left i jump manualed to that roller. i was pretty stoked on that.
