i dont think the OEM paint on my car was properly maintained. any suggestions on how to fix that? im not tryin to spend anymore then like $1000

AGREED!! i too work at a body shop. people always complain about orange peel. but what they dont know or understand, is that orange peel is good. it brings durability, and repaiability.

what i really question, is how you (morasso) say rustoleum is designed to bond to metal, did you strip the car to metal? or is it bonding to paint/primer? is that going to last 5 years?

that miata, it looks good. shiney, no orange peel. to him. but try to repair it. fix a door ding. can you?

and i have a $5000+ paint job, on a car with a book value of 3700. am i crazy? no. (i have a 15k stated value insurance policy for that reason) its my car. you have a $50 hack job on yours, are you crazy, no. its yours.

but i agree 100% by your saying its comparable to OEM, just makes you sound retarded.

do all the body work and preping yourself then spend about $600-800 on a decent 2-stage paint job

I've seen Morassos car in person.
It looks better then Maaco jobs and if you trash them than you have to realize you are comparing a MULTI Million dollar company that is quite successful to a 19 year old with little to no experience. Define OEM quality???? base coat, clear coat then see ya later? i've seen cars' paint peel off in less than 5. Doesn't sound quality to me. I bet this lasts longer than 5 years.

I'll take OEM orange peel over $50 roll-on paint any day.

 

I'll take a clean paint job, don't care if it comes from a $50 roller, Maaco or my mom with a foam brush...clean is clean.

Rustoleum does NOT have any UV stabilizers in it. It'll start degrading the moment the sun hits it. In six months you have a chalky, hazed POS paint job.

Well in that case, open your eyes and don't be ignorant.

Go look at the Miata I posted and SERIOUSLY tell me that it doesn't look close to or better than OEM. Seriously. If you say no, then you're lying to yourself.

As for repairs and what not, its easier for my to repair a scratch or ding in my car, I can simply roll over a new coat, easy as that. Wetsand and rebuff and I'm done.

**** I changed the color of my car 2 or 3 times before I decided to go all white, that alone is awesome enough for me, and I spent what, maybe $100 bucks total? I don't know about you, but I like my money in my pocket.
