98 spec with 4.785 probably is. Might not be "fast" but its definately fun.

Well, Patrick's car with 4.400 and 98 spec is fast to me, and Angell's with 4.785 has to pick up a whole lot better, so deductive reasoning...

You'll be smilin', for sure.

I think the only way Angell's car would be faster is if both cars were on 15" wheels (and last time I saw them they both were). The 4.40 ITR was geared for 15" wheels and the 98 spec was geared for 16" wheels. The first 3 gears of both transmissions are the same, but the 4th gear is shorter on the 96 spec AND it was made for smaller wheels. The 4.785 FD makes up for this difference with a higher final drive.

Remember in Best Motoring Legend of Type R they raced the 96 and 98 spec ITRs in "zero yon"? The race was a dead even tie.

Imagine a 96 spec ITR tranny with a 4.785 FD with a car on 15" wheels That would dip.

I think I'm going with 16"F 15"R on the Civic at the track, and 16" all the way around on the street. It'll probably be 4.9.

You don't need the first one on the track anyway.
